Do you have a directory on your computer where stuff goes to be organised - only to stay there for protracted periods of time?

You know what I mean...

I've got a directory on my MacBook called Downloads, everything that I download goes into that directly automatically. I would say I deal with over 90% of the files within a day, and over 95% within a week. In my Downloads directory I also have another directory, called 'To File Away'. That directory is a placeholder for a number of reasons:

  • Files that I don't want to put away completely because I want quick access to them
  • Files that don't have a specific location yet
  • Files that have a number of potential specific locations, and I'm not sure which one is quite right yet.
  • Files that I probably will delete, but I'm not ready to yet, just in case (disc images that I've burnt fall into this category)

This folder was kept under control because I had limited disk space.

BUT, I've just installed a 500GB drive into my MacBook, after putting aside space for my Ubuntu install, and copying over everything from my last drive, and some more music and movies, I *still* have over 230GB of space left. I have a feeling that my 'To File Away' folder is going to grow, drastically!

Ph.D. research, it's fun, you should try it.
