I was in the Hodson Bay Hotel for a Lero event, and I checked out the gym. They have the same brand machines as my gym, but with touchscreens built into them. I did not like it. I'm sure they are higher-spec, but they were annoying as hell. The touchscreens didn't react at the exact location where I touched, off by up to 2 centimtres (on a little screen that's a lot). I could have accepted that if it was at least consistent, but it was different on different areas of the screen.

I spent about ten minutes trying to get it to let me do some hill training, somehow it was based on my heart rate and it wouldn't let me do anything unless I kept my hands on the heart rate monitor sensors for the whole time. I gave up on that and managed to get it to just set to a standard resistance. On top of that, the machine had a 30 second lag between changing resistance and it kicking in. If it slowly added the resistance over that time I might appreciate it, but all it did was wait thirty seconds, then load up over 5 seconds.

I eventually did a 20km time trial in about 36 minutes. I can do better.
